Some nights ago, I passed a woman on the street. She was working as a cashier at a local supermarket and convenience store.
She was walking alone, probably after work, but her back was straight and her face was full of a smile. I only passed her for a moment in the car, but I felt she was very beautiful.
There are so many jobs in the world.
There are so many professions in the world, and I think that the ones that sparkle tend to stand out, such as artists, those who make big money, and those who communicate on social media. I am not sure how the job of a cashier is perceived, but perhaps it is less glittering than the aforementioned jobs.
But in the dark, that woman really shined. I guessed that she must be passionate about her work and truly enjoy it, because she could look so good even in a place where no one was watching.
We tend to assume that if we get a good school, a good job, a good company, a good partner, much of money & things, etc., we will be happy. However, even if we are in such an situation, if we are always dissatisfied with something, or if we are obsessed with the anxiety of not having enough, not enough, more, more, more, more, more, more, more, more, more, more, more, more, more, more, more, more, more, more, more, more, more, more, more, more, more, more, more, more, more, more, more, more.
“Happiness.”
The “aura of happiness” I felt from that woman must have been that she was doing her utmost to fulfill her role in her situation, and that she was (or seemed to be) able to recognize and love herself properly.
It is all my own guess, but the woman’s smile that night made me very happy as well.
I sincerely wish I could be such a person.
